Function: syncConnection()

Runs one sync pass over a connection.

Never throws for a provider hiccup that the retry policy already handled — but a terminal failure (invalid credentials, an unsupported capability) does propagate, because a sync that quietly does nothing forever is worse than one that fails visibly.
